Rain Can't Keep Senators from Snapping Skid

The Senators rallied from an early 1-0 deficit to beat the Richmond Flying Squirrels 6-2 Friday night at The Diamond. The game was delayed by rain 89 minutes and took 3:09 to play. With the win the Senators snapped their four-game losing streak.

ON CAPITAL HILL

Pearson McMahan opened the game and retired the side in order in the first inning.

Luis Reyes came on in the second inning and Richmond immediately loaded the bases, but Reyes limited Richmond to just a run and went to toss five innings allowing just one more run while striking out eight.

Nick Wells pitched a scoreless seventh after the first two Squirrels to bat reached base.

Gabe Klobosits tossed a scoreless eighth and allowed two to reach before retiring the final two batters of the frame.

Frankie Bartow closed the game for the Senators tossing a scoreless ninth.

WITH THE GAVEL

Luis Reyes smacked a two-out two-run double to give the Sens the lead in the fourth inning.

Jakson Reetz hit his first Double-A home run, a two-run shot in the ninth to give the Sens insurance runs.

Aldrem Corredor had two hits, a double and a single.

FILIBUSTERS

The attendance Friday was announced at 5,191 the largest crowd the Senators have played in front of in 2021. The game was played in a steady misting drizzle. The teams combine to use nine pitchers.

The Senators and Richmond Flying Squirrels play game five of their six-game series Saturday night at The Diamond at 6:05 p.m. The game can be heard on CBS Sports Radio Harrisburg 96.5FM 95.3FM and 1400AM beginning at 5:45 p.m.
