Peralta Dazzles as Keys Shut out Down East

FREDERICK, MD - Ofelky Peralta was dominant over six innings as the Frederick Keys (47-68/18-28) shut out the Down East Wood Ducks (78-39/28-19) 1-0 on Friday night at Nymeo Field. It was the Keys seventh shutout win of the season and the club's first since July 14.

Peralta (1-2) turned in his strongest start for the Keys since the right-hander's promotion from Low-A Delmarva on July 7. Earning the win, the 22-year-old scattered three hits, walked three and punched out six while throwing 103 pitches. Overall, it was Peralta's first quality outing since July 2.

In the second, the Keys got on the board against Wood Ducks starter Tim Brennan. With one out, J.C. Escarra hit a solo home run to right-center. It was the first baseman's second home run in three days and 11th of the season.

Limited to only three hits on the game, Down East did manage six walks against Frederick pitching but left seven men on base. The visitors also were 0-for-6 with men in scoring position.

Brennan (4-1) was tagged with the loss despite allowing just one run in five innings. Giving up only two hits, he walked one and punched out four. Tim Naughton pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn his seventh save. He struck out two while retiring the side in order in the ninth.

The Keys and Wood Ducks play the middle game of their three-game set on Saturday night at Nymeo Field. Right-hander Brenan Hanifee (8-9, 4.63) starts for Frederick and will be opposed by Down East right-hander Alex Eubanks (8-4, 3.06). First pitch is at 6:00 p.m. and the broadcast can be heard on frederickkeys.com and the TuneIn app.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early for The Office Night. This long-anticipated event includes an appearance by Leslie David Baker who played Stanley Hudson on the show. He will sign autographs from 5-7 p.m. To go with this the first 1,000 fans receive a Dylan Bundy Dundy presented by Flying Dog Brewery. Fireworks presented by Flying Dog Brewery follow the game. The Frederick Keys are the Advanced-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, and play their home games at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium.
