Peoria Rough Riders News Release

The last time these two teams played, Peoria was coming off a 6 game losing streak and badly in need of a win. The Peoria Rough Riders snapped their losing streak in Evansville that night winning 39 - 28 handing the Bluecats first loss at home. Saturday Night at Carver Arena the Riders take the field badly in need of a win again; this time to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Back on May 28 wide receiver JR Taylor caught 2 touchdown passes, one for 25 and one for 2 in his Rough Rider debut. That game back on May 28 was the beginning of Running Back Brandon Robinson's tear through the league. Against Evansville, Robinson finally got his chance to star and he didn't waste it. Robinson scored three rushing touchdowns.

But it was the Riders defensive pressure that set the table for the win. Linebacker/Defensive End Jason VanLoo and Defensive End Mike O'Brien contained and harassed Bluecats Quarterback Ramon Robinson throughout the game and another newcomer Noah Washington provided pressure at the nose tackle position. On that night the Riders Defense pitched a shutout in the fourth quarter and only allowed a total of 5 points in the entire second half.

All tickets are half price for the game this Saturday July 16 against Evansville and again next Saturday July 23rd against Wheeling. This is really the beginning of the playoffs for the Rough Riders and a win Saturday night is vital to that effort which should make for some exciting on field action. The players returned from their two week hiatus rested, healed and ready to get back to work in preparation for Saturday Night's match-up.
