Pensacola Rips Columbus, 5-0

The Columbus Cottonmouths had trouble finding ways to stop the Pensacola Ice Flyers, which beat Cottonmouths, 5-0.

Pensacola was led by Adam Pawlick, who registered one goal. Pawlick scored 11:35 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pensacola. Cody Ferriero assisted on the tally.

The Ice Flyers stifled Columbus' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The 43 shots that Pensacola put on net surpassed the Ice Flyers' average of 36.0 shots per game this season.

Pensacola additionally got points from Ferriero, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Corey Banfield, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Mitchell Good also scored for Pensacola. Other players who recorded assists for Pensacola were Luke Greiner, Drew Akins, Phil Tesoriero, and Jeremy Gates, who each chipped in one.

The Cottonmouths were below their usual level of shot production, taking 19 shots compared to the 24.5 Columbus averages.

The Cottonmouths were led by Louis Belisle, who took five shots.

Pensacola's Max Strang stopped 19 shots out of the 19 that he faced. The Ice Flyers totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Andrew Loewen made 38 saves for Columbus on 43 shots. The Cottonmouths totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 0-for-5 on the power play.
