LAST WEEK'S RESULTS

TUESDAY, MAY 8: PENGUINS 3, IceCaps 2 (2OT)...

Simon Despres notched his first professional playoff goal at 12:08 of double overtime to give Wilkes- Barre/Scranton a 3-2 win in Game Five against St. John's and extend the best-of-seven series.

Though the IceCaps' Justin King started the scoring five minutes into the game, Paul Thompson would tie the score at 8:12 of the second with his first tally of the postseason. Alex Grant helped the Penguins take their first lead of the game at 2:18 of the third period, but Paul Postma responded two minutes later on the power play for St. John's.

Brad Thiessen left the game for several minutes late in the third period after suffering a cut during a collision in the crease. He would finish with 26 saves during 87:43 of playing time.

FRIDAY, MAY 11: Penguins 4, ICECAPS 2...

Zach Sill broke a 2-2 deadlock in the third period of Game Six with his third goal of the postseason - the eventual game-winner in a 4-2 win for the Penguins over the IceCaps at Mile One Centre.

Paul Thompson's second goal in as many games provided Wilkes-Barre/Scranton with some breathing room with 3:30 left in regulation. The Penguins received markers from Jason Williams and Cal O'Reilly in a 2-for-6 effort on the man-advantage

Brad Thiessen turned aside 29 out of 31 shots for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

SATURDAY, MAY 12: Penguins 2, ICECAPS 3...

Aaron Gagnon scored twice for St. John's as the IceCaps rallied for a 3-2 win over the Penguins to take a 3-2 victory and advance to the Eastern Conference Semifinal versus the Norfolk Admirals.

Ryan Craig's breakaway goal at 6:43 of the second period brought Wilkes-Barre/Scranton even, 1-1, but Gagnon's first of the night re-established St. John's one-goal lead with 8:25 left until the intermission.

Gagnon provided the eventual game-winner 57 seconds into the third as Colin McDonald pulled the Penguins within one with a power play tally midway through the frame.

ICE CHIPS...

As of the conclusion of the AHL Conference Semifinal series, Colin McDonald (6g-7a) and Jason Williams (3g-10a) were tied for the league lead in postseason scoring. McDonald was also tied for first with six goals, while Williams ranked first with 10 assists...Cal O'Reilly was leading power play goal scorer in the playoffs with five...Williams (2g-8a-10pts), McDonald (4g-4a-8pts) and O'Reilly (5g-2a-7pts) were the top three point producers on the power play in the Calder Cup playoffs.
