Johnstown Tomahawks News Release

JOHNSTOWN - The Johnstown Tomahawks announced today that Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang will be the organization's special guest on Friday, November 9.

Letang will appear at the Tomahawks game and at a special reception held in part to benefit a local youth hockey player recently diagnosed with leukemia.

"It's a very unique opportunity that we have to bring a current NHL All-Star to Johnstown and we look forward to an exciting event and supporting a member of our hockey family," said Tomahawks business director Jean Desrochers.

Letang will drop the ceremonial first puck as the Tomahawks take on the Maryland Black Bears at 7:30 p.m. at 1ST SUMMIT ARENA. A silent auction and basket raffle will take place in the arena concourse in addition to a limited meet & greet opportunity with Letang.

Prior to the game, the three-time Stanley Cup Champion will be the featured guest at a dinner reception to be held at the Pasquerilla Conference Center. The event, organized by the Tomahawks Foundation, will help raise funds for seven-year-old Johnstown Warriors player Ian Rosenbaum, who names Letang as his favorite player. A silent auction is among the activities planned to support the Rosenbaum family and cover some costs associated with Ian's cancer treatment.

Letang, a 2005 second round draft pick, is the Penguins all time leading scorer for defenseman with 449 points and was a finalist for the Norris Trophy in 2013 as the NHL's best defenseman.

Fans interested in attending the reception dinner can visit johnstowntomahawks.com/letang for details. Tomahawks game tickets can be purchased online via Ticketmaster.com or at the 1ST SUMMIT ARENA arena box office.

The event is presented in part by BOUTIQUE AIR, NULTON AVIATION and WJAC-TV.

More details will be released in the coming days.
