Pensacola Pelicans News Release

The Pelicans Training Academy is pleased to announce they will be offering the first-ever catching camp in Pensacola. The three-day camp will take place on March 2, 3, and 5 at the Pelicans Training Academy located at 4920 North Davis Highway in Pensacola.

Pensacola resident and former Major Leaguer Eddie "Scooter" Tucker will be the featured instructor for the camp. Tucker played eight seasons professionally, three of those spending time in the Major Leagues with the Houston Astros and Cleveland Indians. While in the big leagues, Tucker played along side Craig Biggio, Ken Caminiti, Steve Finley, and Jeff Bagwell. Prior to his stints in the big leagues, Tucker led the Astros triple-A team to the Pacific Coast League Championship in 1993, earning the series MVP honors.

"We are fortunate to have such a quality and knowledgeable instructor and person in Scooter to lead this camp," said Pelicans General Manager Talmadge Nunnari. "To our knowledge, there has never been a camp just focused on catching, which is such an important role of any baseball team. These kids will be better from attending this camp."

Catchers ages 9-18 will be split into two age divisions: 9-13 and 13-18. The younger group will go from 5:45 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. while the older division will be from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The cost of the camp is $150.
