Pensacola Pelicans News Release

For the first time since joining the American Association in 2006 the Pelicans will open their season on the road. The seven-game road trip in Grand Prairie, TX and Shreveport, LA begins on Friday, May 14, 2010. The Pelicans make their home debut on Friday, May 21 against the Grand Prairie Airhogs at Jim Spooner Field at Pelican Park on the University of West Florida campus.

The defending South Division Champion Pelicans first host their 2009 division championship series opponent Fort Worth Cats on May 25 for a three-game series. Pensacola will face Grand Prairie the most (22), followed by Fort Worth (21) and Shreveport-Bossier (20). The Pelicans total schedule includes 96 games, 48 away and 48 at home.

Pensacola welcomes two North Division teams to town in the St. Paul Saints (June 1-3) and the Wichita Wingnuts (July 29 - Aug. 1). The league will see a rematch of the 2009 championship series on July 1-4 pitting Pensacola against the Lincoln Saltdogs in Lincoln, NE.

Great giveaways, including hats, t-shirts, and beach towels, and spectacular fireworks shows will fill 14 Friday and Saturday home games next season. A complete promotional schedule will be sent out in the coming months.

On Tuesday, July 27 the South Division will take on the North Division for the annual all-star game at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium in Wichita, KS, home of the Wingnuts.
