Pelicans Announce 2009 Schedule And Home Game Times

MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans have announced their schedule and home game times for the 2009 Carolina League season. The club will once again play 70 regular season home games at BB&T Coastal Field, beginning with the home opener against the Wilmington Blue Rocks on Thursday, April 9th at 7:05 PM.
For the seventh consecutive year, the Pelicans will open their season against the Blue Rocks. They will remain at home for a season-opening eight-game homestand. (4/9 - 4/12 vs. Wilmington Blue Rocks; 4/13 - 4/16 vs. Frederick Keys).
The Pelicans will play 20 games (10 home - 10 road) against each of the other seven teams in the Carolina League. The affiliation of those clubs remains the same with the exception of the Salem Avalanche, who have transitioned from the Houston Astros to the Boston Red Sox. Winston-Salem will remain affiliated with the Chicago White Sox, however the team will adopt a new nickname, ending their tenure as the Warthogs.
Once again in 2009, standard game times at BB&T Coastal Field will be at 7:05 PM, with the exception of Sunday games, which will begin at 6:05 PM. There are four exceptions to standard game times, with the Pelicans continuing their highly successful Education Day program with two morning games. The Pelicans will host Winston-Salem at 10:35 am on both Tuesday, May 26th and Wednesday, May 27th. The first two Sunday games of the season (April 12th vs. Wilmington Blue Rocks and May 3rd vs. Salem Avalanche) will feature start times of 3:05 PM.
