Peanuts To Take The Field For The First Time On Friday

May 8, 2007 - South Coast League (SCL)
South Georgia Peanuts News Release

The South Georgia Peanuts Professional Baseball Club, presented by Security Bank, is getting set to take the field for the first time this Friday. The Peanuts will play an exhibition game against the Macon Music at Paul Eames Park. Game time is set for 7:10 with the gates opening at 6:00.

"This is a chance for us to play a competitive ballgame before the season starts which is very important," Peanuts manager Wally Backman said. "It also will give our fans a chance to see the team mid-way through spring training."

Tickets for the event are two dollars with a portion of the proceeds going to a yet-to-be determined charity. All seats in the ballpark will be considered "general admission" with the people arriving early getting the first choice of seats.

This is an opportunity for fans to get a sneak-peak at the actual team. The in-game promotions and other activities that will be a staple during the regular season will not be run. There will be limited concessions available.

Children who are members of "Goober's Gang" will be able to pick up their membership cards. Season ticket holders will also be able to pick up their ticket books. The team will have season and individual tickets on sale in addition to the ten-game ticket books and team merchandise.

Peanuts spring training is underway as the team is getting prepared for the 2007 inaugural season. All home games will be played at the Paul Eames Sports Complex. Peanuts tickets are currently on sale by contacting the team office at (229) 435-8900! The Peanuts home opener is scheduled for May 24 against the Charlotte County Redfish.
