PCL names players of the week

April 16, 2007 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1) News Release

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- Jamie D'Antona of the Tucson Sidewinders and Tim Lincecum of the Fresno Grizzlies took home the PCL's first awards of the 2007 season for their performances during the period of April 5th-15th. D'Antona slugged his way to the Batter of the Week Award by tallying a .563 batting average and .969 slugging percentage in nine games while Grizzlies starter Lincecum earned two wins and didn't allow a single run on his way to picking up the League's Pitcher of the Week Award.

Former University of Washington standout Tim Lincecum has had no difficulty in making the jump to the professional ranks as the 10th overall pick in the 2006 draft won his first two decisions at the Triple-A level to remain undefeated in his professional career. Lincecum threw 12 scoreless innings and struck out 17 batters in performances against the Portland Beavers and Tacoma Rainiers on April 7th and 12th respectively . The Bellevue, Washington native has given up just six hits on the season and is holding opposing batters to a humbling .146 average.

Jamie D'Antona had six multi-hit performances in the season's first nine games, highlighted by a 4-for-5 showing on opening day that was followed by a 3-for-5 performance the next day that included two triples and a double. The Sidewinders third baseman racked up 18 hits, six doubles, and drove in ten runs during his award-winning stretch. The twenty-four year old native of Trumbull, Connecticut was a second round selection by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2003 draft.
