Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings News Release
Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings, proud member of the North American Hockey League's North Division, announce the naming of Robbie Payne to the NAHL's Combat Hockey Three Stars of the Week.
Payne started last weekends triple-header matchup against the Jamestown Ironmen by tallying one assist in each of the first two games. He followed that up with the most explosive single game performance of any player in the NAHL thus far on the season.
Payne notched seven points in Sunday afternoon's 8-7 Kalamazoo victory. Not only were his four goals and three assists enough to steer the Jr. K-Wings to victory, it left them with sole possession of first place in the North Division.
Payne has now registered 23 points, well enough for third in the NAHL. His ability to score, and enforce (leads Kalamazoo with 41 PIMS) has aided Kalamazoo to win eight of their last ten games.
Also nominated was goaltender, Ken MacLean. Maclean was 2-0 on the weekend, including a 30 save show on Saturday.
The Jr. K-Wings will return to the Borgess Health Rink at Wings West again on Saturday, November 5th against the Port Huron Fighting Falcons.
