North Carolina FC News Release

CARY, N.C. - RailHawks Caleb Patterson, Kupono Low and Gregory Richardson were all named to the USL-1 Team of the Week for Week 18, the USL announced Tuesday.

This marks the second time this season three players have been selected to the same Team of the Week and it's the seventh time this season multiple RailHawks have been honored in the same week.

It's the first time this season Patterson has been selected, making him the 15th different RailHawk to make a Team of the Week. And it's the first time since Week 11 of 2008 that a RailHawk was selected as Goalkeeper of the Week.

Low has been previously honored twice this season, in Weeks 7 and 8, while this is the third straight week that Gregory Richardson has been selected.

"I'm glad we've got all those guys and I think they all deserve it," said Carolina coach Martin Rennie.

Patterson had seven saves in last week's 1-0 win at Rochester. It was his seventh USL-1 shutout and he lowered his goals against average to 0.500. Patterson is tied with Charleston's Dusty Hudock for the fewest goals allowed (five) and his GAA rates him second in the league.

"Caleb's had a lot of clean sheets, so it's good recognition for him," Rennie said. "That fact that he got a clean sheet in Rochester is really good."

Low scored the game-winning goal in the 90th minute of the RailHawks' 1-0 win at Rochester last week. On that play, Luke Kreamalmeyer played a long ball through the middle of the field for Andriy Budnyy. Once Budnyy gained control of the ball, he didn't have a shot on goal. He pulled it back and drifted away from the goal, pulling a pair of Rhinos defenders with him. Then he quickly turned and flung the ball toward the near post, and Low redirected it in. It was Low's first goal in league play since Sept. 6, 2008.

"Kupono's played a lot of positions for us this season, and he's consistently done well," Rennie said. "He created a lot of chances against Rochester and took one in the 90th minute."

Richardson scored the game-winning goal in Saturday's 2-0 win over Cleveland at WakeMed Soccer Park. In the 82nd minute, Richardson played Budnyy into the box. Cleveland goalkeeper Evan Bush charged off his line and saved Budnyy's shot, but Richardson followed up the rebound, tackled the ball away from a defender, then hammered a shot from 20 yards past Bush.

"Gregory, consistently gets in there," Rennie said. "He's scoring goals, making assists and he's playing really, really well."

The RailHawks, winners of four straight and nine of the last 10, will play three times in eight days beginning Saturday. Carolina, currently tied for first place in the USL-1, will face the Vancouver Whitecaps at Swanguard Stadium on Saturday then face the Whitecaps again on Tuesday at WakeMed Soccer Park before traveling to Rochester to face the Rhinos on Aug. 22.
