Regina, Sask. - The Regina Pats announced Wednesday that they have acquired 2003-born goaltender Drew Sim from the Vancouver Giants in exchange for a conditional fourth-round pick in 2024.

Sim, 18, made nine appearances with the Giants last season, going 5-2 with a 3.20 goals-against average, .828 save percentage and one shutout. The Tees, Alta. native was previously drafted in the third round (46th overall) by Vancouver in the 2018 WHL Prospects Draft out of the OHA Edmonton U-15 Prep program, where he went 13-1-1, posting a 2.23 G.A.A., .917 SV% and three shutouts.

"We are pleased to acquire Drew to increase our goaltending depth," said Regina Pats GM John Paddock.

The 6-foot-2, 216-pound goaltender went 16-1-0 with a 1.96 GAA, .929 SV% and four shutouts while playing for the Northern Alberta X-Treme Prep program during the 2019-20 season. Sim's play earned him a call-up to the Giants that season, making his WHL debut on March 4, 2020 versus Kamloops, where he stopped 19 of 20 shots in relief.

The Regina Pats (2-3-0) are back in action Friday, October 15 at the Brandt Centre against the Winnipeg ICE (4-0-0). Puck drop is 7:00 p.m.
