
Patriots soar past Flight, 104-92

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. â Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje led all scorers with 21 points and also grabbed 12 rebounds for a double-double in the Patriots 104-92 win over the Huntsville Flight on Thursday night. The victory gives the Patriots their first three-game winning streak of the season and makes it three in a row at home as well.
The Patriots jumped out to an early 11-2 lead in the first quarter behind Boumtje's first seven points. Fayetteville biggest lead of the half was 10 points before Huntsville jumped ahead 51-47 behind Antoine's Pettway four-point spurt at the end of the half.
Both teams came out hot in the third quarter and the Patriots had cut the Flight's lead to one, 73-72, at the end of the quarter. Outscoring Huntsville, 34-21 in the fourth, the Patriots took the lead and did not relinquish it for the rest of the game.
To compliment Boumtje-Boumtje's double-double, five other players were in double figures. David Young and George Williams both had 20 points. Mike King and Omar Cook had 14 points each. Cook had the games other double-double, adding 13 assists to his total. Jon Smith had 11 points for Fayetteville to round out the six Patriots in double figures.
Austin Nichols led the Flight with 19 points. Damone Brown and Ronald Blackshear both had 15 points. Pettway was the only other Huntsville player in double figures with 12.
The Patriots (12-23) stay at home to take on the Flight (17-17) again on Saturday, March 5 at the Crown Coliseum. Game time is 7:30 p.m. For more information, log onto nbdl.com.
