Dazzle Win Hard-Fought Battle Over Florida, 94-90

FORT MYERS, Fla., March 3 - The Roanoke Dazzle (24-12) defeated the Florida Flame (8-26) by a score of 94-90 in a hard-fought battle on Thursday night at Germain Arena. Roanoke's newly acquired guard Gary Hill-Thomas scored a season-high 22 points to lead the way for the Dazzle, who now move into first place in the NBDL standings by a half-game over Columbus. The Flame were paced by Kirk Haston's 23 points and game-high five blocks.

Even without the services of Roanoke's leading scorers, the Dazzle managed to pull out the much needed road victory scoring 94 points on 41-percent shooting. The Dazzle were without the services of Matt Carroll (20.1 ppg) and Cory Alexander (16.4 ppg) - who were NBA Call-ups with the Charlotte Bobcats, Sung-Yoon Bang (10.6 ppg) who was out with an ankle injury, and Isiah Victor (18.9 ppg) who was ejected in the second quarter.

Seth Doliboa scored 19 points while Miah Davis and Sherman Gay added 16 a piece for Roanoke. James Thomas scored nine points and pulled down a game-high 17 rebounds.

For the Flame, Carl English scored 18 points while Smush Parker added 13 points and 11 assists for his third double-double of the season.

The two teams will face each other again on Saturday at Germain Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 12:00 noon.
