Fayetteville Patriots News Release

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — David Young led all scorers and contributed 31 points in Fayetteville's victory over Roanoke, 107-103, Thursday night at the Crown Coliseum. After battling the Dazzle in two consecutive overtime games last weekend, the Patriots took control of the game in the first quarter with a 14 point lead. Fayetteville maintained the lead and ended the half ahead, 54-50.

The Dazzle fought hard and managed to bring the game within three points with less than a minute in the game. Omar Cook sealed the victory with a free-throw after stealing the ball from the Dazzle. Cook finished having the Patriots' only double-double with 13 points and 14 assists.

Besides Young and Cook, three other Patriots were in double figures, including Tang Hamilton with 16, Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje with 15 and Mike King providing 18 off the bench. Hamilton was one rebound short of double-double for Fayetteville. Ousmane Cisse, one of the league-leaders in blocked shots, kept the game exciting with four on the night.

Roanoke had five players in double figures and was led by Sung-Yoon Bang with 20 points. Garry Hill-Thomas and Kevin Owens had 19 and 18 points respectively. Seth Doliboa and Sherman Gay both contributed 16 points in the loss for Roanoke.

The Patriots shot 54.5 percent from the field and 79.3 percent from the line, while the Dazzle followed closely behind shooting 50 percent from the field and 78.9 percent from the line.

The Patriots (15-26) travel to Asheville to take on the Altitude on Saturday night at the Asheville Civic Center. This begins a six-game road trip for Fayetteville that takes them to every city in the league, except Roanoke.
