
Patriots Power Past Blue Crabs 5-1

Somerset Patriots News Release
Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots defeated the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 5-1 in game one of a double-header at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday evening.
Somerset scored first in the bottom half of the first inning. Freddie Bynum started it off with a walk, stole second, and scored on a double by Yunesky Sanchez. Jeff Nettles then followed a batter later with an RBI double to plate Sanchez and give the Patriots a 2-0 advantage.
A solo homerun by Jesse Gutierrez (2) in the top of the second got the Blue Crabs on the board and made the score 2-1.
The Patriots added to their lead in the fourth after Johnny Drennen (6) and Yusuf Carter (10) drove back to back homeruns to make the score 4-1.
Sanchez (5) drove a solo homerun over the left field wall the following inning to give Somerset a 5-1 lead.
Patriots starter Derell McCall (6-5) got the win after allowing a run in five innings pitched. Joe Gannon (1-2) suffered the loss for Southern Maryland, allowing five runs on seven hits in 4.1 innings pitched.
The 2012 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue at home on Sunday evening when the Patriots take on the Blue Crabs at 5:05 pm.
