Long Island Ducks News Release

(Central Islip, N.Y.) - The Long Island Ducks were defeated the York Revolution 3-2 on Saturday night in the middle game of a three-game series at Bethpage Ballpark.

Long Island struck first on Reid Gorecki's leadoff home run in the first off York starter Corey Thurman. Both teams would exchange zeroes until the seventh inning when the Revolution scored three runs off Ducks starter Bob Zimmermann to take the lead. A RBI single by Brandon Haveman and a two-run base hit by Jeff Fiorentino did the damage.

The Ducks rallied for a run in the ninth on a RBI single by Kraig Binick but could not plate the tying run.

Thurman (11-3) picked up the win, tossing six innings, allowing one run on nine hits while striking out five. Zimmermann (5-6) was the hard-luck loser, yielding three runs on six hits with five strikeouts in six and two-thirds innings. Ricardo Gomez earned his eighth save despite allowing a run in the ninth.

Joash Brodin led the Ducks with three hits, while Binick, Bryant nelson and Mitch Canham each added two.
