Bridgewater, New Jersey - The Richmond Flying Squirrels (22-19) defeated the Somerset Patriots (26-14) 14-5 before 5,517 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday night.

Down early, Luke Voit (2) and Oswald Peraza (2) hit back-to-back home runs in the first to cut the lead to a run. It was Voit's second home run in his last five at-bats in Somerset.

Richmond then scored five unanswered runs from the third to fifth innings, highlighted by home runs off the bats of David Villar (7) and Jacob Heyward (5).

The Patriots scored late in the game on Jason Lopez's first home run (1) of the season and an RBI triple by Aaron Palensky.

Akeel Morris (W, 1-0) allowed two earned runs and struck out seven for the win. Hayden Wesneski (L, 0-1) struggled in his Double-A debut, as he allowed seven runs in four innings.

The Patriots and the Flying Squirrels face off for the final time this series on Sunday afternoon at TD Bank Ballpark starting at 1:05 pm.
