Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

Waterloo, Iowa-Waterloo Black Hawks fans of all ages don't need too much encouragement to make noise while supporting their team in Party Town, and the Hawks are hoping fans will "Party On" during 2010-2011.

The franchise announced Thursday that "Party On" will be the new theme throughout the upcoming season.

"Everyone loves a party!" said Black Hawks President Doug Miller. "Whether you're a ten-year-old having a birthday, a married couple celebrating an anniversary, or a coworker congratulating a colleague on retirement, parties are great, and there's no argument that the Black Hawks host 30 of the best parties in the Cedar Valley. Even people who don't like hockey have a great time at our games, because the atmosphere is so much fun for everyone."

Young Arena is better known as Party Town, in part, because of the Glenn Frey song "Partytown" which is played after every Waterloo Black Hawks goal. The Hawks hope to hear Young Arena's signature song regularly in 2010-2011. An exciting crop of talented new forwards will try to wear out the sound system speakers. With a stalwart corps of returning defensemen and a veteran goalie, visiting teams may not have as much fun when they come to Waterloo.

T-shirts featuring the "Party On" message will be available from Party Town Outfitters, the Black Hawks official souvenir store, next month.

The party kicks off this week as the Black Hawks and Lincoln Savings Bank sponsor Friday's edition of "Live to 9." The free, family-friendly concert at Sturgis Park in Cedar Falls will be a great way to wind down summer. Local band Wagg will help fans Party On beginning at 6PM. Black Hawks players will be in attendance, plus fans can pick up a copy of the 2010-2011 schedule, and everyone will have an opportunity to win cool prizes.

Preseason action opens in Party Town when the Black Hawks host the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders on Tuesday, September 14th at 7PM. The first home game of the regular season also pits the Hawks against their chief rivals, the RoughRiders, on Saturday, October 2nd, also at 7PM. Individual game tickets for the preseason will be available from the Black Hawks box office beginning at 11:30AM on Monday, September 13th. Fans in attendance at the Tuesday, September 21st preseason game against the Des Moines Buccaneers will have the first opportunity to purchase individual regular season tickets.
