BLOOMINGTON (Ill.) - Bloomington PrairieThunder forward Don Parsons is featured in an article that currently appears on nationally known professional hockey website NHL.com.
The article talks about Parsons' career as he continues his quest for the professional minor league hockey record for career goals scored. He needs just four goals to become the all-time career leader.
Parsons has 674 goals heading into games Friday and Saturday against Port Huron and Kalamazoo, respectively, in International Hockey League at U.S. Cellular Coliseum. The record is 677 by former Flint coach Kevin Kerr.
Parsons is also scheduled for a live radio interview Friday at 3:43 (Bloomington time) on XM/NHL Home Ice during the "In the Slot" segment hosted by Mike Ross and NHL hockey great Phil Esposito.
The 17-year veteran Parsons also needs only four points to reach the 1,300 plateau for his career. He has 1,296 points and ranks first in goals scored and points scored among active players.
Parsons, who turns 40 in January, needs to play in only 25 more games to reach the 1,000 mark. He currently ranks third among active players with 975 and is 92nd on the all-time list.
He also ranks third among active players in assists with 622. That marks is 49th on the all-time list.
