ST. PETERSBURG...Third game straight, on the road, undefeated team, the odds were stacked against them, but the St. Pete Parrots managed to give the Orlando Seals their first loss of the season Saturday night. After going 3-0 last week the Parrots bring their record to .500.
The Seals fell 4-1 to the Parrots behind Dan McIntyre in goal. In a first period that was less than spectacular for the Parrots, the Seals struck early scoring their only goal at 3:12. McIntyre went on to have 17 saves in the period, and 46 for the game. Matt Holmes had some highlights of his own scoring a hat trick in the second period. The Parrots were not done yet, putting the final touches on Orlando with a goal from Tom McMonagle at the 4:19 mark in the third period.
The Parrots outscored opponents this weekend 17-6 with hat tricks from Janis Tomans and Matt Holmes. Holmes in his first three games with the Parrots has 9 points and boasts the highest overall shooting percentage in the league at .625. Tomans moved into the number one position in goals scored and points in the ACHL with 20 points and 13 goals. McIntyre is the leading goaltender in the league with an 1.90 goals against average and a .945 save percentage. Other league leaders include Andrew Dickson who leads the league in plus/minus points at 12 and is second in defenseman points at 8.
Parrots next home game is Thanksgiving, November 28 kicking off a home stand weekend with games Thursday, Friday and Saturday. All games are played at Bayfront Center at 7:30. Tickets are available by calling the Bayfront Box Office or Ticketmaster.
The team travels this Friday to play the Knoxville Ice Bears who are currently second in the league standings. They will travel Saturday to face the Macon Trax.
Luke Volk is placed on team suspension indefinitely.
