St. Pete Parrots News Release
ST. PETERSBURG...Thirteen members of the St. Pete Parrots professional hockey team will speak at various schools for the Pinellas County "Great American Teach-In" November 20.
Pinellas County elementary and middle school students will learn about the life of a professional athlete next Wednesday when the Parrots join other predominant organizations in the community to meet students and share experiences. "The teach-in is a tremendous opportunity for the students to be exposed to all walks of life and organizations that they would not otherwise ever see," according to the Teach-In Coordinator for the District, Kay Masters. She goes on to say, "Our experiences are just words in a textbook to these students, but it is so special when organizations like the Parrots can come in and relate personal experiences to the kids.

In furthering the partnership with the Pinellas County Schools, the Parrots implemented "Grades for Blades" for the students of the school system. Each school creates an achievement program (i.e. perfect attendance, honor roll, disciplinary) specific to their situational needs, the Parrots in turn reward the students who accomplish the achievement with a "Grades for Blades" certificate entitling them to a complimentary ticket to a Parrots home game.
Coming off a three game winning streak the Parrots head to Knoxville this weekend to take on the Ice Bears with a chance to move up in the league standings. The team returns home Thanksgiving night to kick off a three game home stand. For the three games over the Thanksgiving holiday tickets will be $5 upper level and $8 lower level. Tickets are available by calling Ticketmaster or the Bayfront Center Box Office.
