St. Pete Parrots News Release

ST. PETERSBURG...Roger Holeczy and Matt Holmes continue to soar for the St. Pete Parrots as the team heads into the week, winning four of their last five games.

The Knoxville Ice Bears foiled what would be a five game winning streak for the Parrots Friday night in a shoot out win for Knoxville. In a game surrounded by much controversy there were astoundingly no fights, but Head Coach Bruce Ramsay was ejected following complaints against the referee. The game was played evenly start to finish with every period ending in a tie, sending the game into overtime. The overtime proved scoreless as the controversy unfolded when a goal by John Gurskis was disallowed. The controversial goal was admittedly legitimate by Knoxville defenseman Jack Rodrigue saying, "We caught a lucky break, that goal should have counted." The Ice Bears went on to secure the 6-5 victory despite three points, including two goals, from Holmes and four points, including two goals from Holeczy.

The Parrots went on to beat the Macon Trax Saturday night, 5-2. Holeczy scored two goals in the game with 3 points. Other goals came from Matt Holmes, Cory Dzikowski and Andrew Dickson. With the win, the Parrots stand alone at third place in the Atlantic Coast Hockey League standings.

Holeczy and Holmes have combined for 29 points in five games, with 15 and 14 points respectively. Both are shooting at close to 50%. Janis Tomans continues to lead the league in goals scored with 14 and is second in the league in points at 24.

The Parrots add two more schools to the Great American Teach-In Schedule. A member of the Parrots will appear at Alexander Elementary School in Tampa tomorrow at 1. Academy Prep Center for Education is also added to the list of appearances for November 20, the visit is scheduled for 2pm.

The Parrots add Jamie Carrol and Peter Kassa to the roster. Rob Schweyer remains on Injured Reserve following the November 9 game in which he was hit in the face with the puck. Jon Austin also remains on the Injured Reserve for another week due to a groin injury.
