St. Pete Parrots are Flying High

Week #4 in the Atlantic Coast Hockey League saw the St. Pete Parrots come to life, posting a perfect 3-0 record with impressive victories over Cape Fear, Jacksonville, and first place Orlando. The Parrots 4-1 victory in Orlando, was the Seals first loss of the season. Coach Bruce Ramsay's Parrots outscored the opposition 17-6 in their three games.

The Orlando Seals continue to lead the way in first place in the ACHL with a record of 7-1; good for 14 points in the standings. The Knoxville Ice Bears are in second with 12 points, while the St. Pete Parrots, coming off their big week, have moved to within 4 points of first place with 10 points in the standings.

The St. Pete Parrots head north this week for games in Knoxville on Friday (15th) and in Macon on Saturday (16th). The Orlando Seals have a three-game home stand this week starting Thursday night (14th) against Cape Fear, and continuing Friday against Macon, and Saturday again with the Cape Fear Fire Antz.

ACHL Players of the Week

The Atlantic Coast Hockey League has Co-ACHL Players of the Week, both from the St. Pete Parrots. Janis Tomans and Matt Holmes of the Parrots will share the honor this week. Janis Tomans, from Riga, Latvia, tallied a hat trick in the Parrots 6-1 victory over Jacksonville on 11/8. Tomans is also the ACHL's leading scorer with 13 goals and 7 assists for 20 points. Matt Holmes, from Calgary, Alberta, also scored a hat trick, in the Parrots 4-1 win over Orlando on 11/9. In three games last week, Holmes scored 5 goals and 4 assists for 9 points. Holmes 5 goals came on only 8 shots!

ACHL Goaltender of the Week

Dan McIntyre of the St. Pete Parrots is the ACHL Goaltender of the Week! McIntyre, a native of London, Ontario had an outstanding week, helping lead the Parrots to victories over Jacksonville and first place Orlando. Dan made 49 saves in the Parrots 6-1 victory over the Barracudas on 11/8 and another 46 saves in St. Pete's 4-1 win against the Seals on 11/9; in Orlando. For the week, McIntyre was undefeated at 2-0 with 95 saves and only two goals against. On the year, he has posted a 1.90 goals against average with a 94.5% save percentage in seven games played.
