State College Spikes News Release
STATE COLLEGE - The State College Spikes, in cooperation with Penn State Transportation Services, have announced parking and traffic information for Saturday's 7:35 p.m. New York-Penn League playoff game at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
The Pinckney Division-champion Spikes, affiliates of the St. Louis Cardinals, will host the Jamestown Jammers (Pittsburgh Pirates) in Game 2 of the Best-of-3 New York-Penn League Semifinal Playoff Series. Ballpark gates will open to the public at 6 p.m. for the 7:35 p.m. contest.
With the Penn State football team hosting Eastern Michigan at Beaver Stadium at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, there will be an approximate period of four hours between events. Despite the long period between the Penn State and Spikes games, some outbound traffic and remaining vehicles from the football game may still impact inbound traffic and parking for the playoff game.
All adjacent stadium lots will be available for Spikes game parking, but fans should allow extra time to arrive at the ballpark. As a courtesy to fans, there will be no parking charge for cars arriving for Saturday's Spikes playoff game.
FREE parking for Spikes fans will be available in the spacious Lot 44 (Jordan East) and Stadium West Lots. Spikes permit holders, VIPs and ADA will be able to access the Porter North Lot as usual. The Porter South Lot will be reserved for Spikes staff and players. All visitors are asked to use caution while traveling within the parking lots, as some vehicles and pedestrians may remain in the lots after the football game.
Two-way traffic flow in and out of the areas surrounding Beaver Stadium and Medlar Field at Lubrano Park is expected to be restored within two hours following the completion of the football game. Fans looking to arrive for the Spikes game between 5:30 and 6:30 are encouraged to access the stadium parking lots via Park Avenue or University Drive. Later arriving traffic, can also access the ballpark from East College Avenue to Porter Road.
Fans with additional parking questions are invited to call the Spikes at (814) 272-1711 or Penn State Parking at (814) 865-1436.
In the event the Spikes series against Jamestown goes to a third and deciding game, that contest will take place at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park on Sunday at 7:05 p.m. Standing parking procedures will return for that game and any remaining 2013 Spikes home playoff games.
