
Parisi named pitcher of the week

Cardinals starting pitcher Michael Parisi, was named NY-Penn League Pitcher of the week, for the week ending July 18th. The last Cardinals pitcher to receive this award was Erik Drown in 2003 (7/7-7/13). Earlier this season Jake Mullinax was named the leagues Batter of the Week (6/27-7/4). Parisi won both of his starts last week for the Cardinals, improving his record to 2-2 for the year.
Michael picked up his first win of the season on July 13th against Staten Island. He went 6 innings, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 3 and walking none. Parisis second win came on July 18th versus Aberdeen when he went 7 innings, allowing just 1 run on 4 hits, and striking out 6. In these two starts, Parisi held opposing hitters to just a .178 batting average.
Tonight the Cardinals will conclude their 3-game series in Aberdeen against the Ironbirds (Baltimore Orioles). The club will then return home tomorrow to open up a 5-game homestand against the Jamestown Jammers (Florida Marlins). On Tuesday, Monkey Boy will be at Skylands Park presented by KFC and The Daily Record. There will also be a post-game party at the Hampton House Bar & Grill with Cardinals players, coaches, and staff.
