Parekh Lands Fifth on NHL Central Scouting's Final Rankings

Saginaw, Mich. - Zayne Parekh topped all OHL prospects Tuesday afternoon when NHL Central Scouting released their final rankings for the 2024 NHL Draft in Las Vegas. Parekh was ranked the #5 available North American skater- the highest of any available OHL player and a five-spot increase from where he stood in January.

Parekh is fresh off the single most successful season by a defenseman in Sagianw Spirit history. His 33 goals, 63 assists, and 96 points were all the most in a single season by a Saginaw blueliner. In 2023-24, his goal and points totals led defensemen across not just the OHL, but the entire 60-team CHL.

In the Ontario Hockey League, Parekh led his entire draft-eligible class in points. At the release of the Midterm Rankings by NHL Central Scouting, Parekh sat 10th through 37 games played. He had 18 goals and 37 assists for 55 points. Through the remaining 29 games, Parekh maintained his scoring pace with 41 points (15G, 26A).

Parekh's #5 ranking is tied for the highest in Spirit ranking when it comes to NHL Central Scouting's North American list. Cole Perfetti (10th Overall, Winnipeg Jets) was also listed as the #5 ranked North American skater prior to the 2020 NHL Draft.
