Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

Ryan Papa notched the game-winning goal in overtime Friday as the Waterloo Black Hawks edged the Sioux Falls Stampede 4-3 at Sioux Falls Arena.

Papa's third game-winner of the season came on a chance out of the right wing corner from the extended goal line. The low shot eluded Charlie Lindgren inside the post to his left. On the other end of the rink, Eamon McAdam backstopped the Hawks to the victory and was credited with a USHL career-high 49 saves.

The Stampede had taken a 3-1 advantage to the first intermission, enjoying their first lead just 54 seconds into the contest when a point shot caromed off a leg to Justin Selman. The Stampede's leading scorer flipped his chance past a startled McAdam. Aaron Pearce tied the game at 2:28, set up with a pass across the crease by Danny Elser. Sioux Falls went ahead again during a power play at 11:41 as Bryan Moore found the net while cutting across the slot. Moore struck once more at 15:20, potting the rebound of Selman's initial shot.

The Hawks' second period rally began just 31 seconds into the frame. Scott MacDonald found a loose rebound at the top of the crease and jabbed the puck into the net. Waterloo completed the comeback at 9:14 at the tail end of a power play. A.J. Michaelson won the puck in the right wing corner, swung behind the net, and set up Mark Naclerio for the equalizer from the slot.

The Black Hawks host the Lincoln Stars at Young Arena Saturday. The action begins at 7:05. Tickets for the game are going quickly but can still be ordered online from waterlooblackhawks.com or at the Black Hawks Box Office and by phone (319-291-7680).
