Bakersfield Blaze News Release

The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes posted just eight hits in the contest, but made the most of them, smacking a pair of three-run dingers in the 1st and 8th en route to a 7-3 win over the Bakersfield Blaze on a warm Sunday at Sam Lynn Ballpark.

The game started with a pair of well-pitched innings on both sides. Jonathan Moscot (L, 1-8) got the start for the Blaze, and fanned three over the first two, while Garrett Gould (W, 2-2) faced the minimum.

In the 3rd, the Quakes got on the board. With two outs in the inning, Moscot allowed a single and a walk before O'Koyea Dickson smashed a deep homer to left, putting the Quakes up 3-0.

The Blaze responded. In the 4th, with two outs, Marquez Smith walked and Steve Selsky hit his third two-run homer over a 13-inning span, cutting the Blaze deficit to 3-2.

In the 5th, Bakersfield got even. Again, with two outs, Nick O'Shea doubled, and Ryan Wright followed with a two-bagger to drive him in, deadlocking the contest at 3-3.

But Rancho gave the Blaze little time to celebrate. In the very next half inning, Dickson doubled, and later scored on a double play grounder to put the Quakes up 4-3.

The score remained there until the 8th, with Pat Doyle striking out the side in the 7th, before Kyle Lotzkar ran into some trouble. Much the same way as they accomplished in the 3rd, the Quakes struck on three straight batters -- single, hit batsman, homer -- and the 7-3 lead proved too much for the Blaze to overcome.

The duo of Raydel Sanchez and Joel Lima preserved the win for the Quakes, forcing a series split, and dropping the Blaze to 21-35 before the team heads on the road for three games at High Desert.

Also of note, El'Hajj Muhammad, the team's lockdown closer, appeared to injure his leg in the 9th inning.

For more information on the Blaze injury report and all the Blaze action in High Desert, make sure to tune in to Blaze broadcaster Dan Besbris as he calls the games live. All three games in Adelanto begin at 7:05pm, with pregame show beginning five minutes prior to first pitch.
