LANCASTER, Calif. - Chris Epps belted a grand slam in the first inning to begin a 16-1 rout of the Visalia Rawhide in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at The Hangar.

Rawhide starter Cody Wheeler (2-3) began the game by walking the first three batters and hitting Preston Tucker with a pitch to bring home the game's first run.

That set the stage for Epps. The outfielder blasted a grand slam to put the JetHawks up 5-0. They finished the first inning with five runs on just one hit.

M.P. Cokinos continued the scoring in the third inning with a two-run home run. In the fifth, Cokinos doubled in another run and then scored on a Matt Duffy single.

Wheeler finished five innings and allowed nine runs on eight hits. He struck out seven and walked five.

JetHawks starter David Rollins (5-3) didn't allow a run over five innings of work. He allowed three hits, struck out five and walked three batters.

Tyson Perez, the piggy-back starter, was greeted in the sixth inning by Ryan Court who hit a solo home run to right field. Perez did not allow a run after that. He gave up two hits over four innings and picked up his second save.

Lancaster continued to score in the sixth inning when Brandon Meredith hit a two-run home run. Joe Sclafani scored on the homer. He had doubled to reach base and finished with a perfect day. He was 2-for-2 with three walks.

Tucker added another RBI in the eighth inning when he walked with the bases loaded against reliever Conrad Flynn. Tucker finished the game with two RBI to give him 57 on the season.

Epps doubled in two runs later in the inning and Cokinos followed with a two-run double of his own. Epps finished the game with a season-high six RBI and Cokinos finished with five.

The JetHawks (35-21) will take the league's best record to Northern California to begin a seven-game road trip. On Monday they begin a three-game series with the Stockton Ports at Banner Island Ballpark. First pitch is at 7:05 pm.

Luis Cruz will start for the JetHawks and will be followed by Kyle Hallock. They will take on James Simmons.
