Quad City Mallards News Release
Moline, IL-Quad City Mallards Head Coach and General Manager Brian Curran announced today that forward Neil Posillico (PA-sill-a-co) and left winger Jesse Rycroft have joined the team for the 2005-06 season. Posillico has played 108 professional games in the United Hockey League (UHL), ECHL and Central Hockey League (CHL). Rycroft will begin his first season of pro hockey this fall after playing four seasons at The University of Toronto.
Posillico played a single game last year for the Flint Generals of the UHL. In his lone appearance, the 6-foot-2, 249-pound forward recorded 34 penalty minutes. In 2003-04, Posillico played a total of 48 games split between the UHL's Elmira Jackals and the ECHL's Roanoke Express and Fresno Falcons. He recorded five goals and two assists for seven points with 244 penalty minutes during the season. As a rookie, Posillico led the 2002-03 Amarillo Gorillas of the CHL in penalty minutes with 228.
During his final year of junior hockey (2001-02), Posillico was a member of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Champion, Victoriaville Tigres. The Tigres advanced to the final of the prestigious Memorial Cup Tournament before being eliminated. Posillico played 129 games of junior hockey where he recorded 11 goals and nine assists for 20 points with 245 penalty minutes.
Rycroft spent the past four seasons playing college hockey at the University of Toronto. He recorded his best offensive production as a senior in 2004-05. The Scarborough, Ontario native scored seven goals last season with 12 assists for 19 points and 60 penalty minutes. In 94 collegiate games, Rycroft recorded 46 points (16 goals and 30 assists).
"I really like Neil's size and physical play," said Curran. "Guys like him tend to create space on the ice, and I think you'll see him do that for us. Jesse is a rookie that put together a very solid college career. I look forward to helping him develop as a pro."
