Jackals Rock & Skate For Katrina Relief

Elmira, NY - The Elmira Jackals proudly announced today that the team will kick off their three skating events to help the Hurricane Katrina fund with a blowout party at Rock & Skate this Friday night (September 23rd) at the First Arena.

All of the proceeds from Rock & Skate and two other public skates will be donated to the American Red Cross in order to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Admission to Rock & Skate is $5 per person, skate rentals are $3. Elmira Jackals team owner Dr. Mostafa Afr has decided to raise the bar for this fundraising event. Afr has pledged to match all donations collected by these three events.

This Friday, September 23rd, from 8 pm to 10 pm at the First Arena Rec Rink Jackals Trevor Burgess, Eddy Lowe and Tom Clayton will be on hand to sign autographs, take pictures and skate with the fans. But there's much more on Friday's agenda.

Bobby K Entertainment will set up a Moonbounce, an Obstacle-Adrenaline Rush, a Giant Slide and a Bungee Run in Main Arena and the Jackals mascot Blade will be on hand for the festivities. Also the team will be holding a raffle for a Jackals Thanksgiving Specialty Jersey and a silent auction for some fabulous prizes and other team memorabilia.

The three Jackals players will be also appearing for the skates on the following dates all at the First Arena Rec Rink: Prices for the Public Skates are $5 for adults, $4 for students and seniors.

Monday, September 26th - 3:00 - 5:00 pm - Public Skate

Sunday October 2nd - 2:00 - 4:00 pm - Public Skate

The Jackals will start the 2005-06 UHL regular season Friday October 21st in Illinois against the Rockford Ice Hogs. Elmira will hit the ice at the First Arena for the home opener on Saturday October 29th at 7:05 pm against the Roanoke Valley Vipers.
