Green Bay, Wis.- Connor and Ryan Donovan are the second duo of brothers, joining Jack and Tommy Strunc, on the Bullfrogs roster for the 2015 campaign. Connor is a rising junior pitcher/infielder from Lehigh University. Ryan Donovan is an ascending senior first baseman at Hofstra University.
The Mountain Hawks, of Bethlehem, PA, are lucky to have a player as versatile as Connor Donovan. He struck out 22 and walked just 12 hitters. Working in long-relief against Bucknell, he tailored a 5IP performance in which he surrendered only one run and three hits.
A 6'3" right-hander from Yardley, PA, Donovan saw playing time in 12 games his freshman season, including two appearances on the mound. He also hit .278 with a 3.38 ERA. In high school, he led The Pennington School (N.J.) to its first NJISAA Prep B-Division State Final since 1985. He finished as the School's Male Athlete of the Year in 2013, and accumulated three New Jersey All-Prep selections.
His brother Ryan Donovan attends Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York. The first baseman started 20 games for the Pride, of the Colonial Athletic Association, slugging 3 HR/10 RBI with a .348 OBP. In a late-season victory against LIU-Brooklyn, Donovan collected two hits, a home run, and two runs scored in a 10-5 victory. He also had one appearance at pitcher.
Also a native of Yardley, PA, Donovan worked a 2014 season for Hofstra in which he led the team with four home runs. He also paced the Pride with a .519 slugging percentage. Donovan spent one and a half years at Fairfield University, and played for the Stags in 2012. A graduate of The Pennington School, Ryan put up dominant numbers throughout his high school years. A career .400 hitter, he was a three-time All-New Jersey selection and was a Perfect Game/Rawlings Baseball Atlantic Region All-High School Team pick.
The Bullfrogs will open up the 2015 season at home on May 26th against the La Crosse Loggers. Group tickets, season tickets and 7-game packages are on sale now. The Bullfrogs off-season hours are Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm. For more information please visit www.greenbaybullfrogs.com.
