Paint the Rink Pink
The game that started a movement in the town of Austin. The Bruins will be hosting their 10th annual Paint the Rink Pink game on Saturday, 2/8. Along with pink ice and custom pink jerseys, Bruins players will perform for the crowd after the game with skits ranging from lip-syncs, dance routines, and more. Following the skits, a live auction will be held. Some items available for bid include the game worn pink jerseys, a custom Bruins/Paint the Rink Pink goalie mask, a goalie stick signed by the entire Denver Pioneer (NCAA DI) hockey team including former Capt. Lane Krenzen, a player helmet signed by former Bruin AJ Drobot and his Maine Black Bear (NCAA DI) teammates, and a signed Jim Craig (US 1980 Olympic team) jersey. In addition, fans can contribute to the Punch-A-Prize wall. For a $10 donation, fans can pick a cup from the wall and will get the prize inside the cup. All prizes are MINIMUM of $10 in value coming from businesses all over Austin including Hoot and Ole's, Papa Murphy's, Pizza Ranch and more! All proceeds from the evening go to the Hormel Institute for cancer research. Fans will also be treated to a custom video during the intermission featuring their submitted photos of loved ones who have won, are still fighting, or lost the battle to cancer.
TEAM NEWS: The NAHL has announced the rosters for this season's Top Prospects Tournament in Attleboro, Massachusetts. The annual tournament is set to highlight some of the older NAHL players who are still looking for a college commitment while also highlighting some of the younger NAHL players who may already have a commitment but could rise up the National Hockey Leagues's Central Scouting Report before this year's NHL Entry Draft.
Representing the Bruins at the event are:
Hugh Quinn - Forward - Orsa Sweden - NAHL Central Division Team Jed Pietila - Defenseman - Howell, MI - NAHL Central Division Team Jaden Shields - Defenseman - Royal Oak, MI - NAHL Central Division Team Carson Riddle - Forward - Holly, MI - NAHL Selects Blue Team (Committed: Western Michigan Univ.) Tiernan Shoudy - Forward - Marysville, MI - NAHL Selects Blue Team (Committed: Michigan State Univ.) Steve Howard - Head Coach - NAHL Selects Blue Team (will serve as Assistant Coach) TJ Chillot - Broadcaster - One of two broadcasters selected league-wide to call all six TPT tournament games
LAST GAMES REVIEW: The Bruins split two games with the Minot Minotauros in North Dakota last weekend. On Friday, the Bruins won 4-3 in a shootout thanks to Hugh Quinn, who was the only player to find the back of the net in the shootout, and Brett Miller who stopped all three Minotauros chances. On Saturday, Austin fell to the Minotauros 5-2 in a game that was much closer than the score would suggest. Josef Mysak netted two goals in the contest for the Bruins who surrendered two last minute empty net goals to give Minot the 5-2 win.
NOTE FROM TJ AND THE MEDIA DEPARTMENT: Paint the Rink Pink is annually the most important Austin Bruins home game of the season. Regardless of the outcome on the ice, the Bruins look to raise as much money as possible for the Hormel Institute for cancer research. Over the past nine seasons the Bruins have raised over a quarter of a million dollars and will break the 300,000 mark this season with a successful night. WE ARE ASKING ALL OF OUR MEDIA PARTNERS TO HELP SPREAD THE WORD OF THIS WONDERFUL GAME. I am available to speak on your radio/TV show, write an article for your paper/publication, or anything else to help us get the word out about Paint the Rink Pink.
