Johnstown Tomahawks News Release
Over the weekend Johnstown hosted the Wilkes/Barre Scranton Knights for a two game series (Jan 31/Feb 1).
Friday night, Faith and Family Night, the team kept the faith alive with a 5-3 win over WB Scranton. Johnstown goal scorers included: Noah Basarab (2), Reed Stark, Malik Alishlalov, Matthew Doyle.
Saturday night, Pucks and Prayers Night, the teams battled it out with back-to-back goals, keeping the score tied for most of the game. With only minutes left on the clock, the Knights scored the final goal of the game, ending in a 2-3 loss for the Tomahawks. Johnstown goals were scored both by Bennett Stockdale.

The team travels to Massachusetts this weekend to take on the Northeast Generals. The Tomahawks and Generals have not matched up for a game since October, where Johnstown won two games out of the three game series.
The Generals are currently sitting 6th place in the East Division with 35 points.

The 2020 Top Prospects Tournament
The North American Hockey League (NAHL) has announced the rosters that will represent each team at the 2020 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament, which will be held from February 17-18, 2020, at the New England Sports Village in Attleboro, Massachusetts.
The NAHL Top Prospects Tournament is one of the most highly-scouted events in junior hockey. Last season, over 220 scouts attended the event, which featured almost every NHL team and NCAA Division I school.
A total of six Johnstown players will be making their way to the tournament.
Noah Basarab (17) - East Division

Bennett Stockdale (25) - East Division
David Tomeo (30) - East Division
Christian Gorscak (16) - Select Blues
Max Kouznetsov (91) - Select Blues
Tomahawk's Equipment Manager Dave Dunkleberger will also be making his way to the tournament to be the Equipment Manager for the whole event!

ALUMNI NEWS
Jordan Watt, an original Tomahawk, played two seasons in Johnstown (2012-13, 2013-14), playing in over 100 games. The California native was a top goal scorer for the team those two seasons.
Currently back in his home state, Watt lives in Huntington Beach, CA. He works full-time for the LA Kings in Hockey Development, where they focus on growing the game and the Kings brand across the Pacific U.S. Region. Watt also works as a part time Hockey Official for the local high school leagues, ACHA and WSHL.
"The memories I made in Johnstown will forever be near and dear to my heart. To be able to be a part of the founding leadership group for junior hockey in Johnstown is an amazing feeling. I am proud to be an alumni and am thankful for all the friendships I have made from playing there."

IN THE COMMUNITY
Last week, the team divided up to go to different area school districts for H.A.W.K.S. TALK and Read to Succeed
Pictured above is Matthew Doyle, Carson Grainer, Brendan Blair, Pavel Kharin, Tristian Poissant and Andrew Murphy at Turkeyfoot Valley Elementary where they shared the HAWKS message.
Brendan Blair, David Tomeo and Christian Gorscak visited St. Benedict to read with the kindergarten and 1st grade. Then shared the HAWKS message with the 4th, 5th and 8th grades.
At Greater Johnstown Elementary, Pavel Kharin, Tristan Poissant, Colin Price and Jack Therrien read books for our Read to Succeed program to the 2nd grade.
Spencer DenBeste, Alex Tracy, and Noah Basarab traveled to Ebensburg to talk to the 4th and 5th grades about the HAWKS message.

The Johnstown Symphony Orchestra is set to score big in February.
The orchestra will present JSO Pops: Movies from Johnstown and Open Mic Night at the Symphony at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 8 at Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center on the Pitt-Johnstown campus, Richland Township.
Concert tickets are $45 for premium seats and $40 for regular seats.
