July 19, 2002 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Portland Forest Dragons News Release
DURHAM, N.C. â Winnipeg manager Hal Lanier announced today that Gary catcher Carlos Pagan will take the place of Joliet catcher Ryan Sienko on the Northern League Central All-Star team that will play the East on Aug. 6 at 7:30 p.m. ET in Le Stade Municipal in Quebec City, Quebec.
Pagan is hitting .286 with 24 runs in 175 at bats for the RailCats. He has notched five doubles, no triples, eight home runs, 22 RBIs and one stolen base this season for Joe Calfapietra's road team. His teammate Francisco Matos was already voted a part of the squad Thursday.
Sienko's contract was sold to the Chicago White Sox on Thursday, the same day that he was chosen by the league's managers and media as the starting catcher on the Central All-Star team. Sienko will report to Single-A Winston-Salem (N.C.) in the Carolina League soon.
Fargo-Moorhead catcher Kirk Pierce, who was originally selected as the reserve catcher by Lanier, will replace Sienko in the starting lineup.
The East Division All-Stars will be named Monday.
