Detroit Fury News Release

AUBURN HILLS, MICH. - Chris Ryan ran the ball into the endzone with 11 seconds remaining and Brad Selent's field goal attempt was blocked as time expired as the Grand Rapids Rampage (8-6) clinched home field advantage for the first round of the playoffs with a 63-60 win over the Detroit Fury. The Fury (1-13) completed their season, losing their 11th game in a row.

GR built a 14-3 lead after one quarter and looked to have the game in control. Clint Dolezel hooked up with Willis Marshall on a 41-yard pass just over 30 seconds into the game. Dolezel finished the night going 23-of-37 with seven TDs.

After a second quarter that saw both teams lock up 21 all, Detroit outscored the Rampage 22-7 in the third frame. Detroit started Nick Browder at QB and the gamble paid off. Browder was strong throughout the game, going 23-32 for 299 yards and five TDs. Shawndel Tucker led the way for Detroit in receiving with 11 catches for 135 yards and two TDs. Jeremy Dutcher led the team in TDs with three.

On the first play of the game a scary moment occurred as Fury linebacker Ty Grovesteen tackled a Rampage player on the kickoff return and went into the boards head first. After a 10-minute delay, Grovesteen was taken off by way of a stretcher and brought to the locker room where he went through numerous X-rays. Grovesteen suffered sprained neck and was able to walk on his own by the end of the evening.

Grand Rapids will host a yet-to-be-determined opponent next weekend as the Arena Football League opens their 16th season of post season play.
