Portland Beavers News Release
PORTLAND, Ore. - The San Diego Padres today recalled right-handed pitcher Josh Geer. Additionally, left-handed pitcher Michael Watt was transferred to Portland from Class A Fort Wayne and will make today's start against the Fresno Grizzlies at PGE Park.
In two starts with the Beavers this season, Geer, 25, is 1-1 with a 3.60 ERA (4er, 10.0ip). Geer, who started today at Philadelphia, made his major league debut with the Padres last season and was 2-1 with a 2.67 ERA (8er, 27.0ip) and 16 strikeouts in five starts with the club after spending the majority of the season with Portland.
Watt, who was acquired along with right-handed pitcher Eduardo Perez as players to be named later in an Aug. 19, 2008, trade that sent right-handed pitcher Greg Maddux to the Los Angeles Dodgers, has two relief appearances to his credit this season; the 20-year-old has not allowed a run or a hit in four innings pitched with Fort Wayne.
Watt was originally a second-round selection of the Dodgers in the 2007 draft.
With today's moves, the Beavers' roster remains at its 24-man limit.
