
Paciorek Pinch Hits Stars to Win

Pearl, MS-Joey Paciorek came through with a clutch two-out two run single in the top of the ninth inning breaking a 7-7 tie and ultimately giving the Huntsville Stars a 9-7 win in the series opener against the Mississippi Braves Sunday night at Trustmark Park.
The Stars and Braves exchanged leads several times and both blew leads.
The Braves took a 3-0 lead in the second inning against Huntsville starter Jacob Barnes.
With runners at second and third base with two outs, Daniel Castro blooped an rbi single to right field. Braeden Schlehuber followed with an rbi when he reached on a fielder's choice. Mississippi starting pitcher Jason Hursh then came through on a soft rbi single to right making it 3-0.
The Stars tied the game in the top of the third inning.
Kentrail Davis, who had a 3-3 game with three rbi's delivered a two-run single into center cutting the deficit to 3-2. The next batter, Josh Prince tied the game on his rbi single to center.
The Braves retook the lead in the bottom of the third. Cedric Hunter hit a solo homerun to right against Barnes, giving Mississippi a 4-3 advantage.
The Stars took their first lead of the game in the top of the sixth inning.
Davis led off with a double. Davis reached third on Prince's groundout to shortstop.
Taylor Green brought Davis home on a groundout to the pitcher tying the game at 4-4.
Lucas May was the next batter and he clubbed an rbi double down the left field line making it 5-4. Erik Komatsu singled through the left side of the infield for an rbi single adding to the Stars 7-4 lead.
Barnes, who took a no decision worked six innings allowing five hits on four runs(three earned).
The Braves tied the game in the seventh against Eric Marzec. Kyle Wren and Cedric Hunter each had rbi singles. Seth Loman tied the game when he reached on a fielder's choice.
Tommy Toledo(4-1) earned the win out of the Stars bullpen. Toledo pitched two scoreless innings allowing just one hit.
David Goforth nailed down his sixteenth save in the bottom of the ninth recording a 1-2-3 inning.
The Stars(7-4, 53-28) lead the Braves 1-0 in their five game series. Game two will be Monday night. LHP Jed Bradley(2-3, 3.81) will start for the Stars. Mississippi will have RHP Greg Ross(1-0, 3.18) on the mound. The game can be heard with Steve Jarnicki starting at 6:45 pm CDT on 92.9 FM, 1450 AM and wtkiradio.com.
