Montgomery Biscuits News Release
KODAK, Tenn. - The Biscuits (40-41/5-6) could not solve Dae-Eun Rhee (5-3) as the Tennessee Smokies (41-39/8-3) used a big eighth inning to defeat the Biscuits 6-1 Sunday night at Smokies Park.
Rhee finished with a season-high ten strike outs, no walks and only surrendered one run. The Biscuits lone run came in the fourth inning when Alejandro Segovia drove a 2-0 pitch over the leftfield wall to give Montgomery a 1-0 lead. The home run was part of a 2-for-4 night from Segovia, including a double.
The Biscuits went into the bottom of the eighth trailing 2-1. After three straight singles, Andrew Bellatti walked Elliot Soto to bring in a run. Jae-Hoo Ha then cleared the bases with a double to put the game out of reach.
Dylan Floro (7-6) picked up a bad luck loss by allowing two runs through six innings. In the fourth inning, with the bases loaded, a groundball to first was thrown away on a potential inning-ending double-play ball to allow two runs to score, which gave the Smokies a 2-1 advantage.
Jake Hager and Luke Maile joined Segovia with two-hit nights.
Game two of the series is Monday night at 6:15 cst. LH Grayson Garvin will throw against RH Matt Loosen.
