VALLEJO, Calif. - San Rafael Pacifics starter, Bennett Whitmore, went the distance in the Pacifics' 6-0 victory in game one of a three game series against the Vallejo Admirals.

Whitmore, who started the ninth inning having thrown just 82 pitches, scattered six hits and allowed just one runner to reach third. The southpaw didn't walk anyone, and struck out four. Whitmore has now won seven of his last eight starts for San Rafael.

Second baseman Price Kendall was a perfect 5 for 5 at the plate, including a two-run double with the bases loaded in the eighth inning. Kendall scored two of the Pacifics' six runs. Designated hitter Darrick Hale was 1 for 3 with two runs batted in.

The win drops the Pacifics' magic number - any combination of San Rafael wins or Maui Na Koa Ikaika losses - to clinch a first place finish in the Pacific Association, to one game. San Rafael plays two more games with the Admirals, before returning home for a three game weekend series with the Hawaii Stars starting on August 16.
