San Rafael Pacifics News Release

VALLEJO, Calif. - San Rafael Pacifics right-fielder, Maikel Jova, played the role of hero on Friday night as his two-out, go-ahead single helped San Rafael come back to defeat the Vallejo Admirals, 8-7, at Wilson Park.

Pacifics right-hander, J.J. Whetsel, gave up a one-run lead in the bottom of the eighth inning with two wild pitches and allowed Vallejo to come back from a 7-5 deflect.

In the ninth, after catcher Matt Quintero walked and a pitch hit Zack Pace, Maikel Jova (3-for-5, 3 RBI) fouled off several pitches before finally lining a single up the middle off the glove of Admirals right-hander Brennen Flick.

Marin Academy alum, Ross Pomerantz, earned the win, pitching 1 1/3 innings in relief.
