SAN RAFAEL, Calif. - Price Kendall's second-inning grand slam highlighted 14 runs through the first four innings and helped set the tone early on Wednesday night at Albert Park en route to a 18-2 San Rafael Pacifics victory over the East Bay Lumberjacks.

San Rafael (35-12) got things started early in the first. Cleanup hitter Johnny Woodard (3 for 6, two runs, three RBI) singled to right field to drive in Kendall, who walked, and Maikel Jova (3 for 5, two runs, three RBI), who advanced on an error.

In the second inning, Danny Gonzalez walked, Kevin Reinking (3 for 4, three runs) had an infield single, and Zack Pace singled to right field to load the bases for Kendall. After fouling off a couple of pitches, the second baseman launched a 1-2 pitch for his sixth home run of the season, a grand slam to left center.

Kendall (1 for 4, three runs, five RBI) came up again in the third with the bases loaded and drew a walk to push his Pacific Association-leading RBI total to 48. Then, Darrick Hale followed suit with a walk of his own to make it 8-0. Right fielder Maikel Jova added on with a sacrifice fly to right field that drove home Reinking and Kendall. Woodard kept the hit parade going with a single that drove home Hale and third baseman Kyle Dhanani doubled home Woodard to make it 12-0.

The bases were loaded again in the fourth for Jova. He uncorked a double that plated Reinking and Pace for his 44th and 45th RBI of the season. The Pacifics scored again in the eighth on Dhanani's sacrfice fly, followed by a three-run homer to right field by Fontaine.

Lumberjacks (1-20) left fielder Justin James drilled a two-run homer in the eighth off of reliever Casey Russell to put East Bay on the board. Nate King pitched a perfect ninth for San Rafael.

Pacifics starter Christian Scholl (4-3) righted himself on the mound. After earning wins in his first three starts, the righty earned two no decisions, then three consecutive losses. He pitched six innings of four-hit ball and issued just one walk. He struck out six, his most since a no-decision on June 21 in an eventual win at Vallejo.

Every Pacifics starter recorded a hit and all but starter scored. The one through six hitters all recorded an RBI.

San Rafael will look for the sweep of the three-game series on Thursday, July 26. It is Baseball Bank Night presented by First Federal Savings. Tickets are still available at www.pacificsbaseball.com.
