SAN RAFAEL, Calif. - The San Rafael Pacifics took advantage of a wobbly Hawaii Stars defense on Thursday evening at Albert Park for a 4-0 victory on Sir Francis the Drake bobblehead night.

The Stars pitchers allowed seven hits but saw their defense crumble with six errors over the course of the game. Meanwhile, the first-place Pacifics (17-6) backed up starting pitcher Logan Odom with a strong defensive showing.

The hard-throwing righty didn't need much help though. Odom improved to 3-0 with a 2.97 after going seven and two third innings strong. He scattered six hits and walked just four while fanning nine.

He even did it with his glove. In the sixth inning, first baseman Johnny Woodard snagged a ball to his right and started a 3-6-1 double play with Odom tip-toeing the bag at first to end the inning.

"I felt pretty comfortable there from the first inning. I had a lot of confidence and was trusting my stuff a little bit more than I have in the past," said Odom, who was very complimentary of his new catcher, Kevin Reinking. "I think I shook him off one time, which is awesome to be on the same page with a catcher, and have somebody who knows what he wants to throw, has a game plan, and is able to attack hitters like that."

Danny Gonzalez got the Pacifics on the board first in the fourth inning. He singled home third baseman Kyle Dhanani, who opened the inning with a double to right field.

In the seventh, second baseman Price Kendall drove home Reinking, then Kendall trotted home after a Maikel Jova infield popup was dropped by Hawaii (12-14) third baseman Caleb Hatcher. Gonzalez scored later in the inning thanks to an error by shortstop Felix Brown.

Pacifics closer Colin Allen pitched a perfect ninth inning for the second straight night and struck out the side to end the game.

"Odom, with all of our starters, they (Hawaii) don't know what to expect. Odom went out there and pitched his game and threw first pitch strikes and they didn't really have an answer for him," said Pacifics Manager Ryan Priddy. "We know this park and we're just playing the game we know how to play. It's really fun to be out there right now."

The Pacifics face the Stars again on Friday night, June 28, at 7:05 p.m. San Rafael will debut new Friday night jerseys as part of Equator Coffee Friday Nights. It is also Baseball Bingo presented by West End Café. Tickets for the homestand are available at www.pacificsbaseball.com.
