San Rafael Pacifics News Release
HILO, Hawai'i - The San Rafael Pacifics left a total of 12 runners stranded on base, en route to a 7-6 loss to the Hawai'i Stars on Friday night at Wong Stadium.
San Rafael loaded the bases with two outs in the eighth, but Chase Fontaine's line drive was snatched out of the air by a leaping Anthony Williams to end the threat and the inning. Fontaine was also thrown out an inning prior, trying to score the tying run after an attempted pick-off throw to third skipped past Hilo's third baseman.
Pacifics starter, Christian Scholl was tagged with the loss after he allowed seven runs in just 4 2/3 innings. The Stars scored four in the first, and three more in the fifth - ending Scholl's night.
The Pacifics got multi-hit performances from Price Kendall (3-for-4, RBI), Maikel Jova (2-for-5, 2 RBI), and Kyle Dhanani (3-for-5, run) in a losing effort. Zack Pace and Morgan Mickan each notched RBI hits for San Rafael.
The Stars and Pacifics will face off in a seven-inning double header tomorrow, July 13. Game 1 is scheduled for 1:35 PM local time.
