Pacific FC Signs Midfielder Ollie Bassett

Victoria, BC - Pacific FC's latest signing is UK-born, attacking midfielder Ollie Bassett. A Northern Ireland youth international, Bassett's career has included stints in England, New Zealand and Australia in addition to his representation of Northern Ireland on their U-19 team.
"Ollie is a technical player who will fit in well with our other team members," said Pa-Modou Kah, Head Coach, Pacific FC. "He can play multiple positions and we are happy to welcome him into the Pacific FC family."
Bassett, 23, has completed his quarantine upon arriving in Canada several weeks ago and joined Coach Kah's squad for training this week. His arrival on Vancouver Island marks his debut in the Canadian Premier League after a well-rounded international career to date.
As a youth Bassett played for Aston Villa Academy followed by several years developing as a profession player in the UK. He began at age 17 with Yeovil Town where he was the youngest player at the club in the Football League at the time. He went on to join Dorchester Town, Coalville Town and Gresley before taking his skills overseas.
Bassett joined New Zealand's Waitakere United in 2018 and after a season moved along to Team Wellington where he had a stellar season with six goals in 10 appearances. The 5-foot-8 inch half back then moved down under to Australia's National Premier League where he played with the St Albans Saints for a season before returning to the UK.
With the addition of Bassett the Pacific squad is near full for the 2021 season. Defender Duran Lee suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon and will be out for the season. Spring training is well underway with practices at the Island Training Centre in Langford.
