ROUND ROCK, Texas - Max Ramirez of the Omaha Storm Chasers and Brett Oberholtzer of the Oklahoma City RedHawks have been named Pacific Coast League Player and Pitcher of the Week for the week of May 6th - 12th, the league office announced today.

Ramirez paced the PCL in hitting last week as he hit .500 in six games for Omaha that included five multi-hit performances. Ramirez totaled 24 total bases and eight runs, both of which were good for tops in the league. The right-handed hitting catcher also added 13 hits, three home runs, eight RBI and an OPS of 1.429. This marks the first time Ramirez has taken home the honor during his six seasons in the PCL.

Ramirez, from Barquisimeto, Venezuela, was signed by the Atlanta Braves in 2002 as a non-drafted free agent. After being traded from Atlanta to Cleveland and then from Cleveland to Texas, Ramirez made his Major League debut with the Rangers on June 22nd, 2008. He has coupled parts of two seasons in the Majors with a 10-year professional career. Ramirez was named Appalachian League Player of the Year in 2005 and has been selected as an All-Star six times by four different leagues. In 2012, Milb.com named the 28-year-old an Organization All-Star for the Kansas City Royals.

On Friday, May 10th, in his lone start of the week, Oberholtzer put together one of the best outings of the season as he gave up only one hit in 5 2/3 innings of scoreless work against the Tacoma Rainiers and their league leading 23 wins. Oberholtzer held Tacoma's potent offense in check by limiting them to a .056 batting average while striking out nine and only issuing two walks in the win.

The left-hander went 5-7 in 15 starts last season with Oklahoma City in his first stint in the PCL.
