July 1, 2009 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Potomac Nationals News Release
WOODBRIDGE, Va- With America's birthday right around the corner, what better way to celebrate the Fourth of July than with the national pastime?
The Potomac Nationals begin a four-game homestand Thursday, July 2 as the Frederick Keys will fittingly face the P-Nats over the Independence Day weekend. The Keys, of course, are named after Francis Scott Key, a Frederick native who penned the lyrics to "The Star Spangled Banner" back in 1814.
Though the series may be brief, there are plenty of fantastic promotions on tap for fans at Pfitzner Stadium. Thursday night's contest with the Keys begins at 7:05 ET, and it is Ladies Night at the ballpark! All ladies get in for half-price and receive a carnation courtesy of Flowers in Just Hours. All throughout the ballgame, ladies can sign up for fantastic prizes donated by the team's terrific sponsors. It will also be Second Chance Thursday at the Pfitz sponsored by the Virginia Lottery. Fans can bring in any non-winning Virginia Lottery scratch ticket for the opportunity to purchase buy-one-get-one-free tickets.
Celebrate America's independence a day early at the Pfitz with Fireworks Night at the ballpark on Friday, July 3! Game time is 7:05 ET, so come out to the ballpark and watch the P-Nats take on the Keys to defend their 2008 Carolina League championship. After the final out is recorded, get ready for a fireworks extravaganza as the P-Nats will light up the night sky with a fantastic fireworks show presented by Potomac Hospital.
The Fourth of July is always a day of celebration for every American citizen, and the P-Nats are throwing a party that is sure to please each and every fan in attendance. Come join the party for their Saturday night contest for the P-Nats' Food, Fireworks, and Fun extravaganza! Game time is 6:35 ET.
A pregame feast gets underway at 5:15 ET where fans can purchase a reserved ticket which also includes all-you-can-eat hamburgers, hot dogs, and delectable side items for the low-low price of just $22.
Once the final out is recorded, the party gets started as one of the best fireworks shows in Northern Virginia will be taking place immediately following the game brought to you by Potomac Hospital.
Once the rocket's red glare fades and the bombs bursting in air have all been unleashed, kids can run the bases at Pfitzner Stadium courtesy of Glory Days Grill.
Sunday afternoon will be Sunday Family Funday at the Pfitz! Gates open at noon, and be sure to get to the ballpark early for Autograph Sunday with select P-Nats players! The game begins at 1:05 ET, and after the contest fans can come out on the field for Family Toss to enjoy an old-fashioned game of catch on the outfield grass.
For all Friday, Saturday, and Sunday games, kids can run the bases after the game courtesy of Glory Days Grill.
After the short homestand, the P-Nats hit the road once again with a six-game trip through Myrtle Beach and Kinston.
